About RL Stine

Robert Lawrence Stine (born October 8, 1943) A.K.A. R. L. Stine and Jovial Bob Stine, is an American writer. Stine is the author of hundreds of horror fiction novels, including the books in the Goosebumps, Rotten School, Mostly Ghostly, The Nightmare Room, and Fear Street series. Stine was born in Columbus, Ohio, the oldest to three childrens. He began writing at the age of 9. Stine said- "When I was 9 years old, I found this old typewriter up in the attic. I dragged it down to my room and started to type, type litttle joke books and magazines. My mother would beg me to go outside and play, she would say- "Whats wrong with you?, Go outside and play!". But I stayed in my room, typing all day". He graduated from Ohio State University in 1965 and moved to New York City to become a writer. He wrote dozens of joke books for kids under the pen name Jovial Bob Stine.

In 1986, Stine wrote his first teen horror novel, Blind Date, which was a huge hit. He soon followed with the novels Twisted, Beach Party, The Boyfriend, The Baby-sitter, The Baby-sitter II, The Baby-sitter III, The Baby-sitter IV, Beach House, Hit and Run, and The Girlfriend - most of which were published as part of the Point Horror series. Because of his great works Stine is still called today the "Stephen King of Children's literature,".
